The clock strikes midnight for the Firewolves and the Bandits win back to back championships.

Leading 9-7 entering the third quarter, the Bandits outscored the Firewolves 5-1 to grab a 14-8 lead and never looked back and claimed back to back championships in the process.

Chase Fraser scored five goals and dished out two assists and Josh Byrne scored one goal and dished out eight assists and Dhane Smith scored two goals and dished out five assists and Matt Vinc made 36 saves.

Now we start the long NLL offseason.

The Firewolves looked good for the first two quarters and took a 6-5 lead into going into the locker room at halftime.

The script flipped over the final two quarters and Bandits look like they are ready to repeat after outscoring the Firewolves 7-2 over the final two quarters to take a 1-0 series lead going back to Buffalo for Game 2 Saturday night.

Josh Byrne scored three goals and dished out four assists and Dhane Smith scored two goals and dished out nine assists and Matt Vinc made 37 saves for the Bandits.

The clock looks to have struck midnight on the Firewolves Cinderella season.

NLL partners with AXIA

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced a new, multi-year partnership with AXIA Time as the “Official Timepiece of the NLL” and the presenting partner of the upcoming 2024 NLL Finals presented by AXIA Time that starts this Friday between the defending NLL champion Buffalo Bandits and the Albany FireWolves.

Games 1 and 2 being relegated to ESPN Plus.

Austin Staats suspended seven games

The National Lacrosse League has suspended San Diego Seals forward Austin Staats for seven games after he attacked Albany FireWolves defenseman Anthony Joaquim in the closing seconds of Game 2 of the semifinals at MVP Arena on May 5.

A league spokesman confirmed the suspension,

No word on a possible appeal from the NLLPA

The cinderella season continues for the Firewolves.  Alex Simmons and Tye Kurtz combined for six goals and ten assists and Doug Jamieson made 51 saves for the Firewolves.  The Firwolves will now play the winner of the Toronto -Buffalo series.

And begins another long off season for the San Diego Seals. A veteran team who’s window might not be open anymore.

Trailing 8-4 early in the fourth quarter, the Bandits offense awoke from their slumber and went on a six goal run to secure the dub and move on to the NLL Finals.  Chase Fraser scored three goals for the Bandits while Dhane Smith and Josh Byrne combined for four goals and nine assists and Matt Vinc made 52 saves for the Bandits.

The Buffalo Bandits will move on to play the Albany Firewolves in the NLL finals.

NLL Semi-Finals Game One

Matt Vinc stopped all 25 shots he saw in the first two quarters and the Bandits transition game did the rest as the Bandits took a 5-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.  The Rock were 0 for 4 with the man up going into the locker room at halftime and finished the game 1 for 8 with the man up.

Justin Martin finally found the back of the net at 5:56 of the third quarter for the Rock, but it was too little too late.

Seven different Bandits scored at least one goal and Matt Vinc made 53 saves.

Box Score

The Firewolves used a five goal third quarter to blow the game wide open and were able to hold off a furious fourth quarter rally by the Seals to go back to Albany up 1-0.

Alex Simmons the likely NLL ROY went off for five goals and dished out five assists and to lead the Firewolves and Doug Jamieson made 27 saves for the Firewolves.

Albany went 3 for 9 with the man up while San Diego went 2 for 7.
